Playing lead over a chord progression is a lot like learning to speak. You don’t wait until you have a perfect vocabulary. You learn a few words. You listen. You copy. You say something simple. Then you say it with feeling.

That’s improvising.

You do not need to know how to play lead guitar. You don’t need theory. You don’t need speed. If you can find your way around a few notes, I can take you from here.

I will walk you through it the same way I wish my teachers had taught me. I didn’t come out of the womb bending strings. I transcribed other people’s solos, slowed them down, and asked why that phrase worked over that chord. Then I turned it into a path a beginner can actually follow.
