How To Read Guitar Chord Charts – Cover Songs

A guitar chord chart is typically a one-page blueprint of a song.

Understanding how to decipher and play a chord chart is a powerful way of supercharging your song repertoire and learning a lot of tunes quickly.  I use chord charts all the time in the studio and in live situations where I have to learn a LOT of songs in a short amount of time.

These charts help give you the framework of the song so you have a good basic idea of when and where the chords move.  Think of it like a “Spark notes” or “Cliff notes” of a song.
